what to expect after booking an HVAC installation

Running the air conditioner in your home is about more than staying comfortable. In fact, it’s one of the home appliances we can’t live without anymore.

So, what will happen if you need a new one? We’ve put together this guide to help you learn what to expect when you install a new heating or air conditioning system in your home.

It Will Take Some Time

You should prepare to have the installers in your home for an entire afternoon, at least. Depending on the specifics of the job, the installation can take several days to finish.

This isn’t common, but if you need to extend your ductwork, if you’re upgrading to a bigger system, or if this is your first HVAC system, you should talk to the installers in advance to get a better estimate when it comes to the timeframe.

It Might Get Messy

The installers will need access to the ductwork, vents, electrical work, etc. This might mean they need to access hard to reach areas, or carve new holes in the walls, especially if you’re removing an old wall system, which can get dusty.

It’s a good idea to move as many personal items and pieces of furniture as possible out of the room in advance. If you aren’t sure where the installers will be working, you can wait for them to arrive. They will clear out the space they need themselves or, at the very least, cover everything in protective sheets.

When the job is done, they’ll help you get everything back to their original homes.

You Won’t Be Able to Heat or Cool Your House During the Installation

During the installation, you won’t be able to run any type of heating or cooling system. If you live in a hot or cold area, make sure you have floor fans or heaters plugged in to stay comfortable.

The Installers Will Show You How to Use the System Before They Leave

Before the installers leave, they will do a final inspection of your new HVAC system to make sure it works. They’ll then walk you through all the features so you know how to use them.

Don’t hesitate to ask questions. Otherwise, you may find yourself confused later. It’s a good idea to think of a list of questions while they’re working so you don’t forget anything.

Surviving Your First Heating or Air Conditioning Installation

Installing a new heating or air conditioning system can be overwhelming but allow yourself to relax. You won’t have to do any of the hard work, and before the HVAC company leaves, they’ll make sure everything is safe and running how it should be.
